Prayers of the Church

All the faithful should strive to pray seven times a day & at the following hours:

  1. Upon rising from bed in the morning & before eating & commencing any task. Wash your hands & pray standing. We glorify God for bringing us from darkness (night) to light (day). Adam was created.
  2. At the third hour (9:00 am). It was at this hour that Eve was created. Daniel the prophet prayed to God; the incarnation of Christ was announced by the Angel Gabriel; the Lord was chastised in the presence of Pontius Pilate; and the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost.
  3. At the sixth hour (12 noon). Satan is very active in deceiving people. Enoch offered prayers to God in the sanctuary; at noon, Christ was crucified at the 6th hour.
  4. At the ninth hour (3:00 pm) The Angels transmit our prayers & offerings to God; Our Lord gave his life on the Cross at the 9th hour for our salvation.
  5. In the evening (6:00 pm) everyone receives payment for their labour; evening is the symbol of the Second Advent when everyone shall be judged according to their work. Christ was buried at the 12th hour.
  6. In the evening (9:00 pm) before going to sleep, a prayer of thanksgiving because God has caused to complete the working hours of the day.
  7. The Midnight prayer is most important because it was at this hour that Christ was born, rose from the dead & will come again to judge the living & the dead.

Kyrie Eleision (Greek for ‘Lord have Mercy’) is said 41 times after each time of prayer.

The Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed (Symbol of Faith)

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light of light, true God of true God, begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man. And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried. And the third day He arose again, according to the Scriptures, and ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, Whose Kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the prophets.

In one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

We believe and offer our supplication unto the Holy Trinity
We denounce Satan in sight of the Holy Mother Orthodox Church
And in the presence of Holy Virgin Mary who is Zion forever and ever

O Lord we thank thee, we glorify thee
O Lord we subject ourselves unto thee
O Lord we thank thy Holy Name thou art worshipped by all
O Lord we worship thee
All power is under thy kingdom
Thou art the creator of all bodies and souls
We call upon thee like thy Holy Son has taught us
Saying after this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
KIB-RE-HEN, EN-DE-NAI (repeat)
HEY-WAT-EN-DE-HO-NA (repeat)
SE-LA-MIN SE-TA-NA (repeat)
YE-KER EN-DI-TE-LAN (repeat)

Prayer to St. Mary

O Virgin Mary, in peace of thy Angel Gabriel,
Peace be unto thee,
Thou art a Virgin in spirit as well as in body,
O thou Mother of perfect God, peace be unto Thee,
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb and blessed art thou among women.
Rejoice O Virgin Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee,
Intercede and pray to thy beloved Son, Our Lord and Saviour,
Eyesus Christos that He may forgive Us our sins.

Prayer of St. John Chrysostom
